Thinking on Scripture with Dr. Steven R. Cook

About Page

As a Christian ministry, Thinking on Scripture is committed to excellence in the communication of the gospel of grace and accurate biblical teaching. The hope is that people will come to know Christ as their Savior, and Christians will know God’s Word so they can live His will in practical ways that touch their lives and the lives of others. This ministry emphasizes the teaching of Scripture because it educates us about God, the universe, people, the death of Christ, and how to live purposeful and meaningful lives in a fallen world. God’s people need a solid understanding of His Word in order to live His will.

The publication of Christian articles, audio podcasts, and videos are available without charge to all who desire to know God and His Word. This free-grace mindset is consistent with the teaching of Scripture. For example, after Jesus had endowed His disciples with the ability to minister (Matt 10:1-7), He instructed them, saying, “Freely you received, freely give” (Matt 10:8b). Jesus’ disciples were to preach His message and minister to others free of charge. This does not mean others were restricted from supporting their ministry efforts. It simply means Jesus’ disciples were not to place a charge on their services when ministering to others. They were to rely on God to meet their needs, which He often did through His people (1 Cor 9:14; Gal 6:6).
